The Global Women Network for Nature (GWNN) organised its monthly meeting on 6 August 2026 under the theme “Seeds of Hope: Growing a Greener Future, One Woman at a Time.” The virtual meeting brought together women and environmental enthusiasts to discuss the important role of women in promoting environmental sustainability and building a greener future.
The session featured Prof. Halima Mohammed Abba, CEO of Transsaharan Resilient Foundation and Professor of Plant Ecology and Physiology, Department of Plant Sciences, Gombe State University, Nigeria, as the keynote speaker.
Prof. Abba shared her perspectives and experiences on the importance of women’s participation in environmental conservation, ecological resilience and sustainable development. The session highlighted how individual actions, community engagement and women-led initiatives can contribute to meaningful environmental change.
The theme “Seeds of Hope” emphasised the idea that every woman can become a catalyst for positive environmental action by inspiring communities, encouraging sustainable practices and contributing to nature conservation.
The meeting provided an engaging platform for knowledge sharing, interaction and reflection on the need for stronger women-led efforts to address environmental challenges and create a more sustainable future.
The Global Women Network for Nature, supported by TERRE Policy Centre, continues to provide a platform for women from different backgrounds and regions to connect, exchange knowledge and work collectively towards environmental protection and sustainable development.
