TERRE Policy Centre, in collaboration with the IOI Ocean Academy–India Programme and the International Ocean Institute (IOI), successfully conducted the 6th batch of the online Ocean Literacy Course titled "Ocean Literacy: Know Your Planet Beyond the Land" from December 16th to 30th, 2024. The course aimed to simplify complex ocean-related concepts and cultivate a deeper understanding of the ocean's significance, empowering participants to contribute to ocean conservation. The inauguration on December 16th featured distinguished guests, including Mr. Sunil Murlidhar Shastri (Consultant, Expert, and Speaker in Ocean & Environment Governance) and Dr. Vinita Apte (Founder Director, TERRE Policy Centre), while mentorship was provided by experts like Dr. Ram Boojh, Ms. Rashmi Rajhans, Mr. Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Dr. K. K. Agnihotri, and Mr. Shastri. The course concluded on December 30th with a summary of its ten sessions presented by Mr. Shastri and Mr. Chakraborty, along with an assessment test to evaluate participants' learning. This initiative highlights the critical role of ocean literacy in fostering informed and engaged stakeholders for sustainable ocean stewardship.
