The Global Women Network for Nature (GWNN), an initiative of TERRE Policy Centre, successfully organised an engaging online knowledge-sharing session on 24 June 2026. The meeting brought together environmental professionals, researchers, academicians, and students to explore the trans formative role of nanotechnology in addressing environmental challenges.
The session was guided by Dr. Vinita Apte, renowned environmentalist and Founder Director of TERRE Policy Centre, whose vision and leadership continue to inspire women leaders to work collectively towards ecological responsibility and sustainable development. Through the Global Women Network for Nature (GWNN), she has been fostering a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation, empowering women professionals to contribute meaningfully to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Dr. Shankramma K then delivered an insightful lecture on "Environmental Remediation using Nanotechnology." During her presentation, she explained how nanotechnology offers innovative and sustainable solutions for environmental restoration, including wastewater treatment, pollutant removal, soil remediation, and ecosystem protection. She highlighted recent advancements in nanomaterials and emphasised their potential to address pressing environmental issues while supporting sustainable development.
The interactive session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment, where participants actively discussed practical applications, emerging research opportunities, and future directions in environmental nanotechnology.
Through such knowledge-sharing initiatives, GWNN continues to strengthen its mission of empowering environmental professionals, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration, and promoting innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
