To honour the legacy of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and his unwavering belief in the potential of India’s youth, TERRE Policy Centre launched the 8th edition of the national-level “Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Young Research Fellowship 2025–2026.” The initiative is aligned with the celebration of Dr. Kalam’s birth anniversary on 15 October 2025.

As part of the selection process, the TERRE team, along with a panel of esteemed jurors, carefully reviewed numerous applications received from young researchers across the country and shortlisted 14 outstanding research projects. The shortlisted candidates were invited to participate in the virtual interview round held on 13th and 14th May 2026.

During the interview sessions, the young researchers presented their innovative ideas, research methodologies, and sustainability-focused initiatives before the jury panel. The discussions highlighted creative approaches and practical solutions addressing various environmental and social challenges.

Dr. Vinita Apte, Founder and Director of TERRE Policy Centre and a distinguished member of the jury panel, appreciated the originality, depth, and relevance of the projects presented by the participants. She encouraged the young researchers to continue contributing towards sustainable development and innovative research for the betterment of society.

The fellowship initiative continues to provide a national platform for aspiring researchers to showcase their talent, promote scientific thinking, and inspire youth-led solutions for environmental and societal progress.
